Lie of the Day Archives
Lie: I deserve a second term.
--President Obama, who thinks he is entitled to another term.
Lie: The recovery is speeding up.
--President Obama, on the same day when 1.2 million people dropped out of the labor force.
Lie: It is wrong for anybody to suggest that the only option for struggling, responsible homeowners is to sit and wait for the housing market to hit bottom.
--President Obama, who would prefer to have the government intervene in the marketplace rather than letting it sort itself out. Short-term political gain trumps all for this president.
Lie: You are one of the bad guys.
--Chris Matthews on Mitt Romney following the law, making a ton of money, and trying to keep it for himself and the charities he gives to.
Lie: We've created 22 million jobs.
--President Obama. Ok, so this was a slip of the tongue (he meant to say 3 million jobs in 22 months) but it doesn't matter because we are in the midst of the worst recovery of the post-war era.
Lie: I realize there are some wealthy individuals - I'm not one of them.
--Massachusetts Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren who lives in a house worth $5 million.
Lie: I don't put people on food stamps, people become eligible.
--President Obama, whose policies made it easier for people to get on food stamps and whose economic policies have failed to lift people out of poverty.
Lie: Twenty thousand jobs is really not that many jobs.
--Rep. Jan Schakowsky...who tries to be in touch with American workers but is clearly in her own little world.
Lie: Anyone who tells you that America is in decline, or that our influence has waned, doesn't know what they're talking about.
--President Obama...not realizing that his policies have pushed us towards the brink of collapse.
Lie: We're happy to have this [be] a referendum on what we've done.
--Obama senior adviser David Plouffe...is this why you are running against Congress and not on the president's record?
